Novels and other writing By G.Schumacher
For a number of years now I have been writing. I enjoyed creating a number of short stories, some of which I actually sold to various magazines. About 15 years back, I decided to try my hand at a novel and then later another. I felt they worked out reasonably well and finally I decided to publish them. Amazon seemed like the best place to do that so I now have 2 books available to buy and read, hosted on the Amazon web site. |
My first book, The Ride, was published in 2022.
About The Ride:
The Ride is a tale about a Father returning from a hunting trip with his son in Northern Alberta . The main character, Roger Wood lives in British Columbia on Vancouver Island. Wishing to travel through the night, hoping to catch the early morning ferry to the island he stops along the highway to relieve his bladder. Miles from any populated area, that is where his troubles begin. Unknowingly he runs afoul of some bank robbers who have stranded themselves by wrecking their car and everything goes downhill from there. As they attempt to commandeer his pickup truck Roger is shot but not killed. He has to endure pain and terror in his quest to be rescued. His trials do not finish there in spite of his being rescued.
This book has been self edited and may still contain a few typos and spelling errors. My books are available as ebooks or paperback.
My second book is titled No Trace. The story was prompted by the armored car robbery that took place in Nanaimo British Columbia, located on Vancouver Island, in 1996. Amazingly, the perpetrator has never been apprehended, to the best of my knowledge, likely due to the skillful way he managed to pull it off. The tale begins at the illustrious West Edmonton Mall and from there moves to Vancouver Island. This novel is based somewhat on the method used by the perpetrator but since so little is known of him or where he disappeared to, the vast majority of the story relies on the imagination of the author in order to flesh it out.
Like my first novel, this book too has been self edited and may contain some errors.

If you have managed to get this far, I would like to suggest you might want to check my "Writings" page. I have started to post some of the many short stories that I have written over the years. (See above) They vary in length and subject. Some were written based on a "Contest" prompt and others simply because I had the urge to do so.
